Turn That Frown Upside Down!
Thursday, October 04, 2007
Game 1 of the division series did not go quite as planned for the Yanks. Torre and his Gang opted to hitch their star to the Wang Wagon, and unfortunately, that vehicle derailed like a runaway train after oh, say, half an inning. The Wangster only made it through 4.2 innings and gave up 9 hits and 8 runs, looking only slightly less frightened than a deer that has has the misfortune to find himself smack dab in the pathway of that aforementioned runaway train. The offense looked similarly out of it throughout the whole game - and it was ALL of them, so if I hear ONE person say that A-Rod "failed" tonight my little Yankees Chick head truly may explode - and Torre looked pretty bummed all night in the dugout.

So yes, tonight was a disappointment, no doubt about it. But let's not fret, my pets! Many folks are pushing the panic button, so to speak, but why? It's a five game series - not a one-game playoff - and this is the same team that came back from an utterly horrendous (say that with a Simon Cowell accent) first couple months to have the best second-half record in all the land, so to think that this initial loss spells defeat for the team seems a tad on the hasty side. Pettitte will bring in the calm (and da noise, and da funk) tomorrow night, and I think his experience and confidence will do wonders for the team's morale. The Yankees did not dig themselves out of their early-season grave to bust out of the playoffs in the first round again. I can't fathom this team rolling over and going down without a fight.

They better not, anyway, or I'll be out a few bucks.

    Wow, that was trippy.

So, the runaway second place train, the Wang Wagon, and its pathway, has derailed. The frightened deer, who is also the Wang Wagon, watches as the Runaway Wagon of Wang approaches with a Gang of hapless Yankees and a pathway attached to it. Is this about matter and anti-matter? Doesn't matter. To suggest that A-Rod didn't "fail" is to ignore the facts. He didn't score any runs and he didn't drive any in. That his failure was not as abject as that of the two men hitting behind him - he did at least get on base twice - is immaterial. The walks are encouraging, though. They mean that there's room for him to underperform more thoroughly in the next game.

P.S. This comment should be read aloud in a Simon Cowell accent.

P.P.S. What did happen to your eyebrows?

so wait, let me get this straight:

this blog only gets comments when you get negative attention from red sox fans? great blog....as weak as your lineup last night

oh, and stay classy, yankee fans:

    Chickers,

I come here to laugh at you, but I never take swipes at you personally (I like your eyebrows). I do apologize for the few that have done so. (Tom, nice picture! You look like a convict!)

but boy you have to take off those "Yankee Blue" colored glasses. Pettite has been just as hot as Wang lately (not-so-much) and frankly I think your season is on it's way to being just about over. More of the same today and 0-2 going back to YankeeLand. Clemens can't go in game 3 and Mussina will put the finishing touches on your over-achieving season!

    better luck next year.

Hope you root for the AL EAST Champs in the next round (you know, to get even w/Cleveland...we'll get the job done in for you and you can thank us later on during the winter by wearing maybe a Red Sox cap in one of your web video blogs). It's not too late to jump on our Streamroll'in Red Sox Train...as opposed to the Yankees de-railed Runaway Train!

Chick, are you going to the game on Sunday?

So, the Yanks lost last night...

Pettitte pitches tonight, followed by Clemens. And the Yanks bats can't be kept silent forever...

Still saying Yanks in 4, unfortunately. Stupid Yanks. They better not mess up my picks for the round.

    Go Sox!!!

rs batboy, i have to keep my pinstripe-colored glasses on! i'm a yanks fan!

however, you know i'm realistic - when I think they're done, I'll admit it - I promise. not yet, though!! :)

    "i thought you hated me?"

hate you? no. crush on you? hell no, i have standards (and im married).

nope, i neither hate nor love you. im the opposite of both hate and love when it comes to you. to quote bill russell:

"the opposite of hate is not love, but indifference. the opposite of love is also indifference"

but i see that you think much of yourself. i post here a half dozen times, and you think i give a fuck either way about you? you are delusional, "my pet".

i just like fucking with yankee fans. easy targets and all. i get stressed out at work, something has me down, i check out the yankee blogs, and everything is alright, because i know things could always be worse: i could be one of you

  • At 11:27 AM, Blogger Yankees Chick said…

well it IS true that the best way to show indifference is to post comments on the blog of the person you're indifferent about, that's for sure.

maureen, no offense: but no matter how self-important you are, doesnt others think the same of you. 7 posts aint shit. i post on many blogs.

you just aint impotant enough for me to give a fuck about. and if you think posting on your blog is some indication of how people feel about you - that's says more about you than me. to be truthful, that's actually kind of sad

and given the number of comments on your blog, your self-worth is lower than i would have thought

sam... I'm not getting paid per comment. I don't write more or less if people comment or not.

I do this because it's fun for me. I work full time and I'm in school full time, and this is something I do because I enjoy it, it's a nice outlet after a long day at work and school. I know not everyone likes the site. Yes, I get a few mean comments. Oh well. If you don't like it, oh well. I can't control that.

It really does not matter to me how many - if any - people comment. I've been doing this blog for 2 years for one reason and one reason only: I love baseball. That's it. My self-worth doesn't come from a blog. Some people seem to enjoy the blog, and that's great, but if my traffic suddenly got cut in half, I wouldn't stop doing it. If suddenly I had 0 comments instead of 2 or 5 or 10 or 980234890, I would still be writing, because, as I said, it is something that I enjoy. Kind of like how what YOU enjoy is being mean to people you don't know.

I'm not quite sure what your point is in commenting/talking shit about me, but I hope you get to it soon.

the depths which we have fallen is exposed by the hi-tech blog comment. instant gratification via venting, and anonymous character assasinations. better than real life, but it is scary to know you and yours are out there. married you say? bless your wife as long as she/he can stand you.
stressed at the office you say? no wonder given all the time you waste posting on numerous sites. all those beans youre counting must be killing you. you are an outstanding sportsfan.
